Our much-loved Sabar dance class with Mbaye Art is back – with live drumming by Ngondame & Lars! This will be an 8-week course running from October 6th to November 24th.

Mbaye Art is a dancer, choreographer, and percussionist from Dakar, Senegal. He is trained in traditional Senegalese dances such as Sabar and Djembe, as well as modern dance, ballet, jazz, and dance pedagogy. With years of experience teaching both Senegalese and international dancers, Mbaye brings not only technical skill but also infectious energy, warmth, and joy to every class.

Sabar is an energetic and expressive dance filled with humor, rhythm, and play. It is performed both on international stages and festivals, as well as at life events such as name-givings, weddings, and birthdays. Sabar is also the source of many popular dance steps in Senegal’s modern mbalax music videos, where traditional rhythms meet contemporary sound.
